Jack Crighton hadn't played baseball in three-and-a-half weeks since suffering an upper body injury in late April.
Tuesday morning, the Michigan commit went to physical therapy when the doctor finally gave him the green light to swing the bat. From there, he went to the batting cage, took some hacks and told coach Matt Petry he was ready to go.
A good thing, too, because the planned designated hitter for the game, Clemson commit and projected first round pick Brock Porter, came down with an illness.
As fate would have it, Crighton stepped to the plate in the biggest spot of the game — bottom of the sixth, two outs, bases loaded, tied at 1 — when Petry pulled him aside, just for a moment.
