CHICAGO — Michigan basketball's Charles Matthews and Michigan State basketball's Cassius Winston and Nick Ward were named to the preseason All-Big Ten team on Thursday morning at Big Ten media day.
Matthews averaged 13.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists last season as U-M finished with a 33-8 record, won the Big Ten tournament title and advanced to the national title game.
He tested the NBA draft waters this summer before ultimately electing to return to school.
Winston averaged 12.6 points and 6.9 assists as one of the conference's leading point guards, while Ward averaged 12.
