Bench play sparks Michigan in impressive and important win at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Michigan fumbled and fouled its way through the opening minutes of Wednesday's game at Penn State. The bench got the Wolverines going. The leading scorer helped bring them home.

Duncan Robinson and Jordan Poole combined for 20 first-half points off the bench and Moritz Wagner scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half in Michigan's 72-63 victory. Michigan (23-7, 12-5) has won four games in a row.

After the game, the Wolverines quickly became Penn State fans. Michigan's hopes at a 4 seed in next week's Big Ten Tournament -- and the double-bye that accompanies it -- rest on beating Maryland in the regular-season finale Saturday and Penn State knocking off Nebraska the following day.
