A select few men and women of the Michigan track and field teams are back in action Thursday at the NCAA East Regional in Tampa Bay. Twenty-four Wolverines will have a chance to earn a National Championship berth, including seven athletes hoping to return to the national meet for the second or third time in their career.
At the Division 1 level, there are only two regional qualifying meets aptly named the NCAA East and West Regional. The top 48 athletes in each event qualify to their respective regional meets and qualifying to the National Championships works thusly: finish in the top twelve of your event.
