Michigan Recruiting Roundup: Martin Expected To Sign With Wolverines, Solomon Leaning Michigan & More

National Signing Day is just two days away, and as such, Jim Harbaugh & Co. are putting the finishing touches on what is shaping up to be another top recruiting class. That means there's plenty to get to around Michigan football recruiting. Here are all the latest Michigan recruiting news and rumors you need to know.

Martin expected to sign with Wolverines
Michigan managed to get four-star wide receiver Oliver Martin (Iowa City, IA) on campus for an official visit over the weekend, and many expected him to commit on the trip. If he did, it hasn't been made public yet, but Steve Lorenz of 247sports says it will be a shock if Martin ends up anywhere else.

Either way, at this point it would be a significant surprise if Martin signed elsewhere, as Michigan appears to have full control of this recruitment in talking to three different people regarding it.

Martin is also considering Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is ranked as the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 47 overall prospect in the country by 247sports.

Solomon leaning Michigan
Another major prospect Michigan is hoping to land on Wednesday is five-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon (Leesburg, GA). Solomon committed to the Wolverines this summer before re-opening his recruitment in August, though Michigan has remained a leader throughout the process. According to Stevel Wiltfong of 247sports, he is also expected to sign with Michigan.

Sunday evening, sources continued to indicate that five-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon was leaning towards Michigan.

As you Wolverine247 readers know, Solomon back to the Wolverines was a hard one for me to come back around too after he decommitted back in August over a mail snafu and then was caught on camera earlier this month saying an expletive about the program on camera. A source told 247Sports at the time of the mail snafu, Solomon was also feeling pressure from other schools about committing to a program without his mother on campus. Solomon’s mom wasn’t with him when he originally committed to Michigan this past June. There were a lot of college coaches basically telling Solomon he needed to open back up and he obviously did.

Regardless, 247Sports was told Sunday evening that Solomon has always loved Michigan. Obviously he felt some magic during his June visit to Ann Arbor when pulled the trigger and that affection is still there.

Jim Harbaugh, Chris Partridge and Greg Mattison kept recruiting Solomon through the decommitment and through the Army Bowl, with Solomon always being receptive to their attention. Those guys crushed the in-home visit this month with the family. With Wednesday’s announcement coming sooner rather than later, the intel points to Michigan.

Solomon said he made up his mind about his commitment last week, and our Michigan Insider says he will pick the Wolverines as well. The 6-foot-3, 288-pounder is ranked as the No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 25 overall prospect in the country.

OLB commits as preferred walk-on
Outside linebacker Adam Fakih (Franklin, MI) announced that he has committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on and will enroll in school this fall.
