Michigan Hires Former NFL OC, Father Of Top 2019 QB Recruit

The Michigan Wolverines have hired Michael Johnson, head football coach at The King's Academy in California, to a position on Michigan's coaching staff, The King's Academy announced on Twitter.

Johnson spent 10 seasons coaching in the NFL with the Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, where he was the offensive in 2010 - the year before Jim Harbaugh become the head coach.

He then spent one season as the offensive coordinator at UCLA in 2011, and was interim head coach after Rick Neuheisel was fired.

Along with his extensive background, Johnson's son, Michael Johnson Jr., is the top-ranked dual threat quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class, according to 247sports. He is currently expected to follow his father to Ann Arbor.
