Michigan Football Rumors: Ty Isaac Injury Update, Drake Harris Joining Basketball Team & More

There are plenty of happenings surrounding the Michigan Wolverines football program as they get ready for their Big Ten opener against Purdue this weekend. Star freshman wideout Tarik Black suffered a broken foot that will cause him to miss a significant amount of time for the Wolverines, but Michigan got good news with another injury and continue to perform well on the recruiting trail. Here are all the latest Michigan football news and rumors you need to know:

Drake Harris planning to join Michigan basketball team
With the blessing of the coaching staff, wide receiver/defensive back Drake Harris is planning on joining Michigan's basketball team for the upcoming season. It's unclear if he will stay with the football team or not.

Perry originally committed to Michigan State as a two-sport athlete and was a first-team All-State performer during his sophomore and junior seasons at Grand Rapids Christian. He was a consensus top 100 recruit before making the full-time switch to football during his senior season.

The 6-foot-4, 188-pounder will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the basketball team. Though head coach John Beilein has an open scholarship, Harris' scholarship for this year still counts against football.

Ty Isaac will play on Saturday
Running back Ty Isaac has emerged as Michigan's lead back through the first three games of the season, but he was forced to leave the win over Air Force early with a lower back injury. However, it won't be something that will linger.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said at today's press conference that Isaac is "fine" and will be good to play on Saturday. Isaac has 336 yards on just 47 carries so far this season.

Harbaugh not concerned about Michigan's offense
While Isaac has been great all season, Michigan's offense has not. They have only found the end zone five times in three games, which has created huge concern among fans. Harbaugh isn't worried, telling reporters that he likes the direction the offense is headed.

"The run blocking and protection has been really good, that was a question mark heading into the season coming into the camp and what our offensive line was going to look like with replacing four starters," Harbaugh said. "I think that's been really good. The backs have been strong, the quarterback has been strong. He's quarterbacking the seventh-ranked team in the country to a 3-0 record. He's quarterbacking the winningest program in all of football, the history of it. It's good to be Wilton Speight right now. We just keep forging ahead and keep making improvements. I like where our team is headed."

Michigan currently ranks 85th in the country in passing yards per game and 57th in points scored per game.

4-star WR had "absolutely great" trip to Ann Arbor
Dillon Spalding, a four-star wide receiver from Lorton, VA, made a visit to Michigan on Saturday and came away incredibly impressed.

“Absolutely great,” Spalding told The Michigan Insider. "I got to meet all the coaches, see the campus and the atmosphere was all amazing. Just a great overall visit! I'm just lucky to be in this position.

“They definitely moved up on my list after this visit. It was all amazing I can't even pick a favorite part.”

Michigan also offered Spalding a scholarship during his visit. The 6-foot-1, 216-pounder is the No. 60 wide receiver and No. 346 overall prospect in 247sports Composite Rankings.
