Michigan Football Roundup: Brandon Peters May Not Start, Wolverines Hoping To Flip 4-Star Florida Commit & More

The Michigan Wolverines rebounded with a hard-fought 35-14 win over Rutgers on Saturday, and are now preparing to take on Minnesota in the fifth night game at Michigan Stadium in school history. That win over Rutgers featured outstanding performances from a few players who were filling new roles, and we have the latest on what their impact will be moving forward. Of course, recruiting also never stops, and we have an update from the recruiting trail as well. Here's everything you need to know about Michigan football:

Jim Harbaugh won't commit to starting Brandon Peters at quarterback
Redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Peters came off the bench to lead Michigan to that win on Saturday, replacing John O'Korn in the first quarter, but head coach Jim Harbaugh wouldn't commit to starting Peters on Saturday against Minnesota.

"It’s likely he’ll start,” Harbaugh said Monday at his press conference. “We’ll see. Sometimes I’m not clear. We’re going to try to really build on what Brandon did in the ballgame. We’re going into this game, we’re going to prepare both quarterbacks. Brandon is definitely going to play.  The 51 percent would be on the side of him starting.

“Not naming a starter today. We’ll see how the week progresses. Our system is a meritocracy where the best players play. It was time for Brandon to play (against Rutgers). He went in, acquitted himself very well. He will play again this week.”

Peters went 10/14 passing for 124 yards and a touchdown against the Scarlet Knights.

Kareem Walker to get more playing time
Redshirt freshman Kareem Walker was another player who saw substantial playing time against Rutgers and played so well that he will see significant playing time moving forward, Harbaugh said.

“Kareem Walker, another one,” Harbaugh said. “Got the want to. Got the passion for being out there and playing. And that showed up in the ball game when he carried the football. You'll see more of 6 as we go here.”

Walker had six carries for 34 yards and a touchdown against Rutgers. He only had four carries for 15 yards on the season coming into the game.

Wolverines hoping to flip 4-star Florida commit
Four-star wide receiver JaMarr Chase (Metairie, LA) announced on Twitter that he received an offer from Michigan.

Chase originally committed to the Gators in July but is wavering on that commitment following the firing of head coach Jim McElwain. TCU, LSU, and Michigan are all known to be in the mix.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder is ranked as the No. 12 wide receiver and No. 69 overall prospect in 247sports' Composite Rankings.
