Michigan Football Recruiting: Wolverines Make Top Group For 4-Star LB, DE Target Not Taking Official?

The college football season doesn't start for another month and a half, giving the Michigan Wolverines plenty of time to focus on recruiting. Michigan has turned up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paid off with 18 commitments - but the Wolverines are far from done. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan football recruiting

Michigan in top group for 4-star LB
Four-star linebacker Will Ignont (New Market, AL) announced his top four schools on Twitter, and Michigan made the final cut:

"[Running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley] really opened my eyes to Michigan and what they're trying to build up there with Coach Harbaugh," Ignont told 247sports after receiver his offer from Michigan. "Coach told me that he likes the way linebackers play in the state of Alabama and that I'm a dog that they'd love to add to their program. Most everyone thinks I'm set on either going to Auburn or Alabama but my mom and I have talked a lot and I'm open to anyone. Michigan is a program I could see myself at."

Ignont is also considering Auburn, LSU and UCLA, and Auburn is considered the favorite to land him. However, many believe that Michigan isn't far behind.

DE target won't take official visit?
Four-star defensive end Deron Irving-Bay (Flint, MI) is one of Michigan's top targets at the position, but they may not get an official visit from him.

"The two schools I'm taking officials to are Tennessee and Maryland," he said. "Those schools are far for me and they're interested in me. I can't get to them, so I'm going to come in the fall and come see them."

Irving-Bay says he is still interested in Michigan - and Michigan State - but wants to save his official visits for out-of-state schools.

The 6'5", 271-pounder is ranked as the No. 11 defensive end and No. 302 overall prospect in the country.
