Michigan Football Recruiting Roundup: Wolverines In Mix For Pete Werner, Top QB

The Michigan Wolverines are still in the midst of spring practice in preparation for the 2016 season, but that doesn't mean head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff have taken a step back on the recruiting trail. Here are all the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan recruiting.

Four-Star LB Visits Michigan
Pete Werner, a four-star LB, took a visit to Michigan Friday. He told 247Sports that he was impressed on his visit.

"It was a great weekend," Werner said. "I had a great time, met with a lot of coaches, great facilities and everything, great academic support, it was a great school overall."

Werner is the No. 276 overall recruit and the No. 2 player from Indiana. Notre Dame is recruiting Werner heavily as well.

Michigan Offers Four-Star DT
The Wolverines offered four-star DT Greg Rogers Thursday, an offer that Rogers was waiting for. 247Sports caught up with Rogers.

"There's no doubt Michigan is in my top five now," Rogers told 247sports. "They are a school I am really high on. I like what Coach Harbaugh did at Stanford and in the NFL at San Francisco. There's no doubt that he's a guy who can push me to levels that I haven't reached yet and he's turned a lot of college players into successful NFL guys. I can't commit to an unofficial visit this off-season, but I'm almost certain that they will get an official visit as long as my relationship with the coaching staff stays strong."

Rogers is ranked as the No. 143 overall recruit and No. 8 DT. He's from Nevada, with USC and UCLA among the others recruiting him as well.

Wolverines Getting Visit From 2018 QB
While the 2017 recruiting class is the priority, Michigan isn't ignoring the 2018 class. One of the top QBs in the 2018 class, Dorian Thompson-Robinson will visit Michigan and then Ohio State next Monday.

"Coach Harbaugh's player development is big," Thompson-Robinson told 247Sports. "I have actually been on Michigan's campus a couple times, and I was in their stadium a long time ago, but that's when it was being remodeled. I still remember how big it was, thinking how crazy it was that they were making it even bigger. I'm looking forward to getting back there and seeing the new facilities."

Thompson-Robinson is listed as the No. 77 overall 2018 recruit by 247Sports, despite never starting in high school. He's been stuck behind Tate Martell, one of the top QBs in the 2017 class.
