Michigan Football Recruiting: Nation's Top ILB Impressed By Wolverines During Visit

The Michigan Wolverines hosted five-star linebacker Brandon Smith (Mineral, VA) for an unofficial visit on Tuesday and left quite an impression on him.

"It was just overall great visit," Smith told TheMichiganInsider.com. "I enjoyed everything that I saw."

"They really feel I would be a great as player and student. I was able to see the facilities, academics, campus and watch practice. The defense was flying all over the field. I was very impressed with coach Brown and his defense."

Smith also has unofficial visits scheduled with Notre Dame on Wednesday, Ohio State on Friday, and Penn State on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions are thought to be the favorites or him right now, but Michigan believed to be among his group of favorites along with Alabama, Texas A&M, and the other schools he is visiting this week.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is ranked as the No. 1 inside linebacker and No. 19 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.
