Michigan Football Recruiting: The Latest On Top Recruit Rashan Gary

Five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary (Paramus, NJ), the top-rated recruit in the class of 2016, took another series of visits to Ohio State and Michigan, and enjoyed his time at each school.

"My first stop was to Ohio State," Gary told 247sports. "That was my third time being up there and it was my mom's second time. I'm glad she came with me to see the place. I was happy to see Larry Johnson and Urban Meyer. I've been building that relationship ever since freshman year. I knew Larry Johnson when he offered me at Penn State. It's the same thing with Urban Meyer. I went up to the Ohio State camp when he first took the job and he gave me the offer. The academics there were good. My mom seemed to like it and it seems like that could be good."

Gary then headed north to Ann Arbor to visit the Michigan Wolverines.

"At Michigan it was good to see coach Partridge again," he said. "He gave me a big hug when I saw him. I was happy to see coach Mattison and the whole coaching staff. It was cool. Ann Arbor is a beautiful place and, of course, a degree from Michigan means a lot. I already knew the academics are good.

"It was my second time there. We got to see the academic building and the business building where I'd be taking my classes. I want to major in business. I talked with Greg Harden. I think he is the associate academic director. He was a good guy. It was like, if you are having a down day you could go in and talk to him and get some inspiration and it'll keep you going. Basically he's that parent way from home that will always give you that pat on the back when you need it when the times get hard for you."

Many top prospects from New Jersey are taking visits to Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama, but Gary said he doesn't plan to visit any of those schools.
