Michigan Football Recruiting: 4-Star DE Commit May Flip To Stanford

Four-star defensive end Stephen Herron Jr. (Louisville, KY) gave a verbal commitment to Michigan back in July, but Stanford is pushing hard to flip the talented pass rusher, according to Steve Wiltfong of The Michigan Insider.

The four-star Herron has been a verbal to Michigan since July, but things have cooled a bit there while picking up tremendously with the Cardinal. Herron and Stanford have been in regular contact and the Cardinal staff went to Kentucky to see him multiple times in January.

If NSD were today I believe Herron would land in Palo Alto.

Herron has also received heavy interest from Ohio State, where he took an official visit last April, but they appear to be the clear third team behind Michigan and Stanford.

He has also taken unofficial visits to Notre Dame, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is ranked as the No. 5 weak-side defensive end and No. 67 overall prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the 247sports Composite.
