Michigan Football News: Wolverines Could Lose 4-Star OL Commit To Alabama

Four-star offensive guard Emil Ekiyor (Indianapolis, IN) originally committed to the Michigan Wolverines last October, but it now appears they have some competition for his services.

Ekiyor hasn't completely shut down his recruitment and has taken visits to several schools, including Alabama. He told 247sports that he's still committed to Michigan but has had "second thoughts" and sometimes considers flipping to the Tide.

“Most of the time I’m sticking Michigan but sometimes I have second thoughts and think Alabama looks good,” Ekiyor said. “I talk to [Alabama offensive line] Coach (Brent) Key almost every day. We text every day and he calls me once or twice a week. I’ve talked to Coach Saban a couple times.

“They have a void at center right now and need someone to come in next year and compete for the spot. Center is one of their biggest needs on their team and I can come in and compete for it.”

However, Ekiyor also said that he has developed a really strong bond with Michigan's coaching staff and that he even is in a group chat with Jim Harbaugh.

Ekiyor will make an official visit to Tuscaloosa next weekend when Alabama hosts Ole Miss. His official visit to Ann Arbor is scheduled for the Ohio State game on Nov. 25.

Florida State, Notre Dame, and Tennessee are also thought to be in the mix for Ekiyor.

The 6-foot-2, 322-pounder is ranked as the No. 4 offensive guard and No. 106 overall player in the country, according to the 247sports Composite Rankings.
