Michigan Football News: Wolverines Add To Coaching Staff, Former 4-Star OL Transfers To CMU & More

The Michigan Wolverines are putting together their final preparations ahead of their matchup against South Carolina in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day, but there is plenty of off-field rumors swirling around the program prior to that game. Here are all the latest Michigan football news and rumors that you need to know:

Ja'Raymond Hall transfers to CMU
Michigan freshman offensive lineman Ja'Raymond Hall has transferred to Central Michigan, according to the school.

"We got to know Ja'Raymond well when we recruited him as a high school student," CMU coach John Bonamego said. "When he reached out, we were interested because he will fit in well in our locker room and as a student-athlete on the CMU campus."

Hall was ranked as the No. 30 offensive tackle and No. 301 overall prospect in the 2017 recruiting class.

Wolverines add to coaching staff
Michigan is officially hiring Arkansas strength & conditioning coach Ben Herbert to the same position, according to The Football Scoop.

Source tells FootballScoop former Arkansas director of strength & conditioning Ben Hebert is joining Jim Harbaugh’s staff. Hebert served as Bret Bielema’s head strength coach at both Arkansas & Wisconsin.

Our James Yoder reported yesterday that the move was all but done, and the two sides finalized the deal today.

Wolverines the favorite for 2019 OL
Offensive tackle Karsen Barnhart (Paw Paw, MI) is one of the top 2019 prospects in the state of Michigan and, despite not getting an offer from Michigan when he camped there last summer, they remain his dream school.

“It was great,” Barnhart told The Michigan Insider of his camp experience. “I just loved the feel of the campus. I also loved the way the coaching staff was and how (Offensive Coordinator) Coach (Tim) Drevno is as a coach.”

“[An offer] would be a dream come true. They have always been one of those dream schools to me.”

The 6-foot-4, 282-pounder does have offers from Indiana, Iowa State, and Michigan State, among others.
