Here's Who Michigan's Top 5 Defenders Were Against Minnesota, According To The Scouts

The Michigan Wolverines have been one of the best defensive teams in the country all season long, and their dominance was on full display on Saturday against Minnesota. They limited the Gophers to just 164 yards of total offense. A number of players really stood out on that side of the ball, putting forth some of the best performances of the year in all of college football.

Here's who Pro Football Focus graded as their top five defensive performers in that game.

Check out the Michigan Football Report Video Podcast!

1. Khaleke Hudson (99.9)
PFF grades are out of 100 so Hudson could not have graded out any higher. Only one other player has received a 99.9 grade in a game this season, showing just how special his performance was.

2. Mike McCray (84.3)
This was McCray's second-highest grade of the season, trailing only his performance against Air Force. This shouldn't come as a surprise given his dominance against the run, and Minnesota didn't test him in coverage.

3. Tyree Kinnel (84.1)
Kinnel recorded five tackles and a pass deflection against the Gophers, giving him a rating about his season average (80.3).

4. Chase Winovich (83.4)
Winovich's rating is actually below his season average of 87.9, but his performance in this game is still considered "good" by PFF's system (80-85 ratings are good, 85+ is considered elite). As a great defensive end and pass rusher, his score was likely hurt by Minnesota not dropping back to pass much.

5. Maurice Hurst (82.9)
Hurst has been PFF's top-rated interior defensive lineman all season long, and despite recording 1.5 sacks against Minnesota, actually posted one of his lowest ratings of the season.

Michigan's next game is Saturday against Maryland on the road.
