BREAKING: Tim Drevno Resigns As Michigan's Offensive Coordinator

Michigan Wolverines offensive coordinator Tim Drevno has resigned from the program, according to The Wolverine Lounge.

Former Ohio State offensive coordinator and Minnesota offensive line coach Ed Warriner will take over as Michigan's offensive line coach. He was hired as an analyst.

Michigan also hired former Florida head coach Jim McElwain to be the team's wide receivers coach this offseason. It's unclear who the new offensive coordinator would be, but he's the heavy favorite to get the nod.

Michigan's offense struggled last season under Drevno, as they were one of the worst units in the country in 2017. The Wolverines ranked 105th in the country in total offense (349 yards per game) and 91st in points per game (25.2).

Many think the writing had been on the wall for Drevno after those hirings. Drevno's son, Zach, is a member of Vanderbilt's 2018 recruiting class, there are reports that he will join the Commodores' coaching staff.

Drevno took over as Michigan's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach when Jim Harbaugh took the head coaching job in 2015 after spending time on his staff at San Diego, Stanford, and with the San Francisco 49ers. However, he was only the offensive coordinator at San Diego.
