Michigan football recruiting rumors: The latest rumors on 2012

Its been 23 days since the last Michigan football game, a program defining 7-year itch being scratched by 1st year Michigan head coach Brady Hoke and the Michigan football team over the hated 'Ohio' Buckeyes.

Has your head exploded yet? Now, on to the latest rumors/news for the 2012 Michigan recruiting class.

Many recruiting followers were expecting Michigan to end finish up this recruiting season by landing a plethora of 4/5 star skill players and lineman. Well, it doesn't seem like it will end up that way . . . and that's ok. CA WR Jordan Payton will not be coming to Michigan. The 4-star WR, we have been told, will end up at either Cal or Notre Dame.

As noted, RB Bri'onte Dunn is headed to OSU.

After dogging Michigan coaches by not being at his school when they visited, MA WR Stefon Diggs is no longer being recruited by the Michigan coached.

WA OL Zach Banner will likely end up at Oklahoma while IL OL Jordan Diamond has cooled on Michigan . . . mostly due to Michigan coaches cooling on him the last 4 months.

CA TE Taylor McNamara is no longer considering Michigan. Look for him to stay in the Pac-12 or Oklahoma.

Now, for the good news. An associate of 4-star NJ CB Yuri Wright has caused much buzz among Michigan fans by claiming that Wright will end up at Colorado. I wasn't instantly confused when I came across this news as I have been told numerous times that Yuri has all but committed to Michigan and the coaches expect him to land in Ann Arbor. I checked in with my sources on Wright again this weekend and although Yuri has connections in Colorado (friends on team), folks close to the Michigan program and telling me that he is one we are going to land.

WA OL Josh Garnett, a 4-star also considering Stanford, is one that the folks wired into the Washington high school football scene see landing at Michigan. My source also gave me much info on Steve Schilling committing 5-6 years ago and says he believes Garnett will land in Ann Arbor.

3-star MO WR Jehu Chesson will commit to Michigan on Wednesday. He has an announcement scheduled at his school. This will be the 2nd WR in this class, and most likely the last.

Michigan is back into the fold with IN RB/ATH David Perkins. The one-time Notre Dame commit is seriously considering Michigan, but also is looking at OSU, LSU and Tennessee. While it is not highly likely he will come to Michigan, Perkins is one to keep an eye on as a possible late commitment to this class.

It appears that Michigan is very serious about adding a QB to the 2012 class. They are looking to have 4-5 players visit in January before deciding who to offer from the following group:

* Detroit QB Brian Blackburn (Toledo commit)

* Rochester Hills QB Tony Annese (CMU commit)

* Detroit QB Brian CLeary

* OH QB Patrick Boyle

* OH QB Cole French

* OH (St. Ignatiius) QB Eric Williams

Although Michigan CAN take 28 commitments for this class, if any of the likely commits listed above end up elsewhere, Michigan may bank a 'ship or 2 for a likely monster 2013 class, led by 2013 super QB Shane Morris.

Stay tuned for more recruiting awesomeoness as we move toward the end of the 2012 recruiting cycle.
