Michigan Football Schedule News: Michigan Adds Arkansas, Several Others to 2016-18 Slate

The Michigan Wolverines announced several additions to their 2016-18 schedules on Wednesday, with Arkansas the most high-profile team added.

Michigan hosts Central Florida on Sept. 10, 2016, which will be the first time the two football teams have met. UCF is an ascendant program currently 5-1 and #21st in the AP Poll after high-profile wins over Penn State and Louisville.

The game against Ball State, originally scheduled for Sept. 24, 2016, has been moved to a future date yet to be determined. As it stands, Michigan will play three straight home games to begin the 2016 season, starting with Hawaii on Sept. 3, then Central Florida on the 10th, then Colorado on Sept. 17. Michigan still has an open date prior to the nine-game Big Ten Conference schedule.

The Wolverines have also added a home game against Air Force for Sept. 16, 2017. As part of the agreement, Air Force and Michigan will also play a basketball game in 2015-16 or 2017-18 at the Crisler Center.

Michigan will kick off the 2018 season by hosting Arkansas on Sept. 1, then have an open week before hosting Southern Methodist University on Sept. 15. The Wolverines have only played SMU once, winning 27-16 in 1963.
