Michigan Football Recruiting: 4-Star Class Of 2016 QB Decommits

The Michigan Wolverines added one high-profile QB commit last week in former Texas commit Zach Gentry, but they lost another one Tuesday night in 2016 4-Star Messiah deWeaver.

A 6'3 pro-style QB from Wayne, OH, deWeaver announced the move on his personal Twitter account:

deWeaver

The most frustrating thing about this for Michigan? Rumors are flying that deWeaver has been getting lots of attention from Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow lately, and that (in addition to increased interest from Michigan State) might have been what pushed him to decommit. Marrow, you may remember, nearly became Jim Harbaugh's recruiting coordinator at Michigan until Kentucky offered him a massive raise. MSU, Kentucky, Penn State and Duke are all possibilities for deWeaver now that he's back on the market.

In related news, Jim Harbaugh was in Washington yesterday visiting the Class of 2016's #1 QB, Georgia commit Jacob Eason. With deWeaver likely out of the picture, expect Harbaugh to make a serious run at Eason - his commitment to UGA is reportedly solid, but we don't see that keeping Harbaugh from taking a shot.

After deWeaver's announcement, the Wolverines have two 2016 prospects currently committed - 4-Star Illinois OT Erik Swenson and 3-Star Maryland LB Dele Harding.
