Da'Shawn Hand's decision: Head vs. Heart

Da'Shawn Hand is the #1 high school football recruit in America in the class of 2014. On Thursday, he will announce his decision on where he will attend college between Michigan, Alabama and Florida. From all accounts, Florida is likely a distant 3rd, so we will focus on Michigan and Alabama.

Several things are universally accepted by any level-headed college football fan when it comes to this decision:

1. Hand's heart is telling him to go to Michigan because of the fans, players and most importantly the coaches

2. If he is thinking with his head, he would go to Alabama, no-brainer

Now, contrary to popular belief, I am the biggest Michigan fan in history, but I am not a loyal-blind homer who can't separate personal wishes and desires from reasonable thinking. And, that reasonable thinking says he should 'Hands' down go to Alabama.

Comparing the two schools

Alabama's resume:

- Favorite to win 4th national championship in 5 seasons (including last 3 straight)

- 14 1st round picks in last 5 NFL Drafts

- 5 losses combined in last 5 seasons

- Has had Rivals.com #1 overall recruiting class 6 of last 7 seasons! --> This is absurd and may be more impressive than their on-field accolades. Hand would play with the BEST of the best of the best.

- Likely will be pre-season #1 next season, and in 2015, and in 2016....basically they will be #1 in all the polls as long as Saban is still the coach

- #2 scoring defense in the country

- Best overall and defensive coaching staff in the country

- #6 in total defense

Michigan's resume:

- 8-5 season in 2012, will likely lose 6 of final 7 games this season and go 6-6 in 2013 regular season

- Coming off two straight stellar recruiting classes in 2012 & 2013: #5 in 2012, #7 in 2013

- Have a commitment from the #2 player in 2014 class in CB Jabrill Peppers

- Have former Ravens defensive coordinator in Greg Mattison

- Will not be ranked to start 2014 season.

- Head coach Brady Hoke in on the super hot seat and may not be coaching in Ann Arbor next season

- Finished in bottom 1/2 of college football in team QB sacks in 3 seasons under this staff

- #22 in total defense

Now, those are the facts that no one can dispute. So, with that, I will make my prediction that I am 99% confident on:

Da'Shawn Hand will go with his heart and pick the one school and coaching staff that he truly loves tomorrow: Miichigan

Lock em up, Brady - lets get this train back on the tracks! Beat NW.
