3 Reasons To Be Optimistic About Michigan Football In 2015

The dawn of the Jim Harbaugh era for Michigan football is an exciting one, as the Michigan Wolverines are ready to put an uneven 2014 behind them and start anew. With spring football over and just over four months until the start of the 2015 season, it's time to assess the biggest positives for the program heading into the rest of the offseason. So leaving out the most obvious reason to be pumped for 2015 (Harbaugh's return), here's 3 Reasons To Be Optimistic About Michigan Football In 2015.

1. Jabrill Peppers, Internet Superstar

The sophomore defensive back is healthy and looking fast, and the stage appears set for him to turn every Michigan football defensive series into a potential Vine/GIF highlight reel. The former 5-star recruit has packed on the muscle, and he's ready to roam the secondary while dishing out equal parts bone-crushing hits and amazing route reads. Have your finger on the record button.

2. The Jake Rudock Plan

If incumbent Shane Morris can't win the quarterback job outright in Ann Arbor, upcoming transfer Jake Rudock and his 25 starts for the Iowa Hawkeyes is one heck of a contingency plan to have. Whoever gets the majority of snaps will have earned it, and both guys have plenty of talent to make it work whichever way the coin falls. The veteran Rudock's the favorite right now, but stay tuned.

3. Greg Mattison Is Still Around

It's been defense first for the Wolverines in recent years and that trend will continue in 2015. Greg Mattison's move from defensive coordinator to overseeing the defensive line may pay big dividends, as his ability to focus in on a single unit can only serve to help a dominant group (Willie Henry, Bryan Mone, etc.) get even better. DJ Durkin might have taken the coordinator reins, but Mattison is ready to work wonders for the defense up front.
