Winston and Ward power Michigan State basketball past Nebraska, 70-64

LINCOLN, Neb. — Cassius Winston let it fly from deep behind the arc, nearly standing on the sideline next to Tom Izzo.

Swish.

Winston and Nick Ward provided the offensive punch, and No. 6 Michigan State’s defense did the rest en route to a 70-64 road victory over Nebraska on Thursday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Spartans stifled the Cornhuskers, who made just 5 of 26 3-pointers and shot just 30 percent for the game.

Winston scored in a variety of ways to finish with a career-high 29 points on 9-of -5 shooting and six assists.
