EAST LANSING — Jacob Slade had taken in the first half of his Michigan State football career from the prime view of the home sideline.

It was August 31, 2018, and the No. 11 Spartans led pesky Utah State 20-14 at halftime. The Aggies’ up-tempo offense coupled with the knee issues of then-redshirt senior defensive tackle Gerald Owens forced defensive tackles coach Ron Burton into a change in the rotation.
