During the close of Michigan State’s 2018 recruiting class, Spartan Nation’s Hondo Carpenter said the Spartans (who currently sit with 20 players signed) would not stretch to fill numbers in this class, but would bank scholarships toward the 2019 class because of the potential that class had to be a strong one for MSU.

In the days following the early signing period, that strategy would seem to be a good one as Michigan State added two new members to their 2019 class: Belleville wide receiver/defensive back Julian Barnett and Madison (Ga.) Morgan County cornerback Jordan Huff.
