The 'busy eight days' that united Michigan State football and Mel Tucker

EAST LANSING — Eight days ago, Mark Dantonio was Michigan State's football coach.

Things changed in a hurry. And the search for his replacement moved nearly as quickly.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mel Tucker was named the Spartans’ 25th head coach by the university's board of trustees. Seven of the eight trustees were present for the vote, with the only absence being Renee Knake.
