East Lansing – Michigan State was looking for the spark that would turn around its season at home Saturday against BYU.
Instead, the Spartans suffered their third straight loss, 31-14, suddenly creating a scenario where just getting to bowl eligibility might be a question mark as Big Ten play looms again next week.
The Spartans (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) have now lost three consecutive games for the first time since 2009, and in the process, were unable to move the ball consistently against a BYU defense that allowed 53 points last week against Toledo, causing many of the 74,214 at Spartan Stadium to serenade the Spartans with boos.
