EAST LANSING - Darrell Stewart Jr. is a newly-minted starter at three positions and his redshirt sophomore season for Michigan State begins on Saturday against Bowling Green.

About 1,200 miles south of Spartan Stadium, Stewart's family will attempt to gather together, as usual, to watch him play on TV. This time it will likely require special travel accommodations.

That would be a boat.

Stewart's hometown of Houston has been devastated by Hurricane Harvey and the flooding that has resulted from the heavy rainfall. His mother, Tamara Johnson, who lives with two of his sisters and a brother, are safe right now on dry ground.
