We’re getting to the point in Tom Izzo’s Michigan State basketball coaching career where he’s recruiting some of his own former players’ sons.
Izzo has already landed Jase Richardson, son of Jason Richardson, and turned him into a one-and-done. He’s recruiting Mateen Cleaves Jr. as well, and there are sure to be more former players’ sons coming through the pipe. He did, however, opt not to recruit Jaxon Richardson, the youngest son of Jason and younger brother of Jase. He wants to apparently forge his own path.
Another former player’s son is local, playing for East Lansing High School, and yet Izzo watched as he committed elsewhere this week.
