EAST LANSING – Michigan State’s quest to improve its sack total got off to a slow start Saturday.
The Spartans got just one from, linebacker Chris Frey, in the 35-10 win over Bowling Green. However, MSU also hurried Falcons quarterback James Morgan eight times from eight different defenders.
And it appears that the Spartans are going to be even deeper in the heart of their defensive line. That includes the debut of redshirt freshman Naquan Jones, who defensive tackles coach Ron Burton said showed “the energy, the passion, the effort needed” to add pressure up the middle.
