Ex-Michigan State University basketball star Keith Appling will face a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of his relative last month, prosecutors say.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Monday that her office is pursuing the following charges against Appling, 29: one count of first-degree murder, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of felony firearm. He has not yet been formally charged through a court arraignment, though a date for that is being arranged.
Appling was arrested May 24 by Michigan State Police in Chelsea.
