Two more massive staff moves were made by Pat Fitzgerald on Saturday evening as news broke that the new Michigan State head coach had retained a couple of Jonathan Smith era assistants.
While that may sound like a negative move, especially since that puts Fitzgerald’s staff up to four retained assistants from the Smith era, it’s actually a net positive because the new head coach has now retained arguably the four best assistants from the previous regime.
The two coaches that were retained on Saturday had pretty much all Michigan State fans cheering.
