One Michigan State University student-athlete tests positive for COVID-19

The Michigan State athletic department releases that one athlete tested positive Monday for COVID-19 out of the 124 tested.

It is not clear what sport the athlete plays.

That athlete will be isolated for 10-14 days. They already went into isolation after Monday’s testing. Those who tested negative among football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball teams will be retested on Monday. A second negative test is required to begin voluntary workouts.

MSU allowed student-athletes back on campus on Sunday.

No MSU staff members tested positive for COVID-19. One other athlete did not report to campus Sunday after testing positive at home last week, bringing the number of known cases to three Spartans.
