• Miles Bridges led all scorers with 21 points on 9-for-19 shooting. The 21 points were the second most ever by a freshman in his MSU debut, trailing only Jay Vincent’s 25 in 1977. His seven boards were tied for the seventh most by a freshman in his first game, joining Branden Dawson (2011), Adreian Payne (2010) and Charlie Bell (1997).
• MSU started the game on a 9-0 run, seven of which came from Bridges to force an Arizona timeout. MSU eventually took a 17-2 lead before a 23-4 run by Arizona gave the Wildcats a 25-21 lead.
