A new advantage for Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football has been unlocked.
In preparation for the season opener, Michigan State's defense has had to prepare for the unknown at quarterback, but that actually might not be a bad thing. Western Michigan hadn't named a starter until Tuesday when head coach Lance Taylor spoke to the media.
Taylor admitted that both sophomore Broc Lowry and junior Brady Jones had been close all camp long and neither really separated themselves as the starter. He said that both were so good that he couldn't name a starter.
So basically, Western is heading into the opener without a clear QB1.
