East Lansing — There were plenty of things to like in Michigan State’s season-opening victory on Friday night.
Quarterback Tyler O’Connor was efficient in his first start, throwing three touchdown passes and completing better than 70 percent of his passes in the 28-13 win over Furman at Spartan Stadium. Running back LJ Scott was also effective, gaining 105 yards on 20 carries and scoring a touchdown while the defense forced a turnover and held the Paladins to 13 points.
But there was also plenty to be frustrated about, and just because it was the first game of the season didn’t make the Spartans feel great about it.
