East Lansing – When Tom Izzo took the court wearing a Christmas sweater with and elf theme and he was greeted by Oakland coach Greg Kampe, who had donned a sleek button-down with the face of The Grinch and the phrase “Merry Grinchmas” across the top, it was a clear indication this wasn’t just a random college basketball game.
It was, of course, the final game for each team before the holiday break and Kampe, the longtime coach at Oakland and close friend of Izzo’s, convinced the Spartans’ coach to ditch the traditional garb and go with the Christmas attire.
