MSU board stands by Engler as Nassar victims call for his ouster

EAST LANSING, MI - The Michigan State University Board of Trustees stood by Interim President John Engler at its meeting Friday as sexual assault victims and community members called for his removal.

Engler is facing heavy criticism and calls to resign after an email surfaced in which he accused ex-doctor Larry Nassar victim Rachael Denhollander of getting a "kickback" from an attorney representing victims.

More than a week after his email became public, Engler issued an apology, something he kicked off the meeting by reiterating. But he also stood firm in his position.

"We've got a lot of work to do.
