It was Jan. 14, 2017, the game had just begun, 15:56 read on the scoreboard in the Breslin Center, and Michigan State was trailing Rutgers by just a basket, 13-11. With a quick glance to the scorer’s table there were five players in white uniforms waiting to check in, it was time for a Spartan lineup change.
Among those five players kneeling alongside the scorer’s table, nervousness and excitement running through him, the “blue collar superstar” freshman Miles Bridges was making his return to the hardwood after suffering an ankle injury more than a month prior in late November.
