Michigan State's upset bid falls short against No. 3 Purdue

East Lansing — Michigan State, playing shorthanded, couldn't pull off a stunner Monday, falling to No. 3 Purdue, 64-63 at Breslin Center.

Tyson Walker led the Spartans (12-6, 4-3) with 30 points, including the go-ahead jumper with 11 seconds remaining. But, center Zach Edey gave the Boilermakers (17-1, 6-1) the lead back with two seconds remaining. Edey finished with 32 points.

The Spartans were without forward Malik Hall, who missed the game after aggravating a left-ankle injury in Friday night's loss at Illinois.
