Michigan State's Mel Tucker can't point fingers after disgusting loss — he only has 2 hands

His voice was hoarse and his eyes were burning.

Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker seethed with disgust and disappointment after Iowa crushed the Spartans, 49-7, on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.

“Totally unacceptable,” Tucker said.

Maybe, that’s a predictable reaction from a head coach in his debut season after suffering a second embarrassing defeat. But there was something else. Tucker’s voice was filled with determination and direction. He didn't point fingers or single out players who messed up — mainly, because he only has two hands. But more importantly, he did point a way out of this mess because the problems were so obvious to him, as if clarity appeared in the midst of calamity.
