Michigan State's Jaren Jackson Jr. makes 'uncommon leap' into elite group of prospects

On the day he committed to Michigan State, Jaren Jackson Jr. went through an afternoon workout inside the inconspicuous practice gym at La Lumiere School, a tiny private high school out in the woodlands of northwest Indiana.

Playing on a crowded court of elite college prospects, Jackson was clearly the best player on the floor. He was on another level -- a deft combination of inside-outside skills nicely packaged in a 6-foot-10 frame. At the time, in those ever-scrutinized recruiting rankings, Jackson was at No. 22 overall in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs rankings from all major recruiting services.
