Michigan State's Jake Hartbarger was named Wednesday to the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top punter.
Hartbarger, a fifth-year senior, was one of 27 players named to the watch list, which will expand to a complete list of candidates on Nov. 5. A group of 10 semifinalists will be released on Nov. 15, three finalists will be announced on Nov. 20 and the winner will be named on Dec. 6.
No Michigan State player has ever won the award, which has been presented every year since 2000.
Hartbarger is entering his fourth season as Michigan State's starting punter and was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection by the media last season.
