Michigan State wide receivers step up with lofty expectations this season

EAST LANSING - Michigan State opened spring practice returning every starter on offense other than center Brian Allen.

Brian Lewerke emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the Big Ten last year while running back LJ Scott opted to return for his senior season instead of leaving for the NFL. A young and reworked offensive line had a full season of experience to build on. For all the talent the Spartans brought back on that side of the ball, offensive coordinator Dave Warner said the wide receivers stood out as the top development group this spring.
