Michigan State shakes up recruiting staff, promotes Mark Staten, Sheldon White

EAST LANSING - Mark Staten is returning to an old role while Sheldon White is taking on a new one.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio on Tuesday announced that Staten was promoted to assistant head coach/recruiting coordinator while White was elevated from consultant to director of player personnel.

Staten, who will remain the offensive line coach, is heading into his 11th season with the Spartans and 14th as an assistant under Dantonio, dating back to their time together at Cincinnati. It's his second stint as the program's recruiting coordinator, following one from 2007-10, and he replaces quarterbacks coach Brad Salem in that role.
