Michigan State Spartans freshman rower and Austrian native Maya Elbaranes was recently selected to participate in the upcoming World Rowing Under-23 Championships this summer. The top event for Under-23 rowers will be held July 7-July 11 in Racice, Czech Republic. Elbaranes will represent her home country on the Austrian team.
Elbaranes was a second-team All-Big Ten pick in the 2021 season. She will be paired with a fellow Big Ten rower, Rutgers freshman Karin Brandner, this summer. The World Rowing Under-23 Championships brings approximately 1,000 rowers from around the world, features 22 boat classes, and will return to Racice for the first time since 2009.
