The Spartans add another to the transfer portal on this fine Wednesday.
The latest departure from East Lansing comes in rising redshirt junior quarterback Theo Day, becoming the seventh player to leave the program since Saturday’s spring practice finale.
Saturday’s televised spring football practice/game saw Anthony Russo, Payton Thorne, Noah Kim and Hamp Fay all take more snaps than Day. After three seasons in East Lansing and just two appearances in games (both in 2019), it was clear where he stood in the pecking order.
In Day’s only game throwing the ball, he went 2/3 passing for 12 yards late in a disaster of a game that saw Brian Lewerke and Rocky Lombardi get sent to the bench throughout the afternoon.
