Michigan State QB Rocky Lombardi gets first start and Brian Lewerke dressed vs. Purdue

EAST LANSING - Michigan State had a change at quarterback.

Rocky Lombardi started Saturday's game against Purdue as Brian Lewerke, who is dealing with a right throwing shoulder injury, had his string of consecutive starts snapped at 20. Lewerke also dressed and, speaking on the pregame radio show on the Spartan Sports Network, coach Mark Dantonio said it would probably be a game-time decision on who to start and he expected both quarterbacks to play.

It was Lombardi's first career start. The redshirt freshman previously only quarterbacked the Spartans for a pair of possessions while going 1-for-2 passing for nine yards with three sacks.
