BOSTON -- The students filed into the venerable old barn that is Matthews Arena well before the 12:30 p.m. scheduled tipoff, and lined up three deep along one sideline.
There was no need for chairs. The group would be standing a few feet from the court throughout for the biggest home game in their school's history, where they held signs and chanted "overrated" throughout warm-ups.
That's the scene that greeted Michigan State when it entered Matthews Arena for its Saturday game at Northeastern -- one it hasn't seen yet this year but can expect plenty more of in the near future.
