Michigan State and Michigan both had two players named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top college football player.
Quarterback Brian Lewerke and running back LJ Scott represent the Spartans while quarterback Shea Patterson and running back Karan Higdon represent the Wolverines on the 85-member watch list, which was released Monday morning by the Maxwell Football Club and mainly features offensive players.
Lewerke, a redshirt junior, is coming off his first season as a full-time starter and helped lead Michigan State to a resurgent 10-3 season.
